The NYS 5 hour classroom training required to take a road test can now be done online

In order for a permitted driver to be eligible to take a road test to get his or her Class “D” driver’s license, the state mandated that the person take a state certified 5 hour classroom course. These courses are taught at New York State licensed driving schools. However, ever since the state locked down due to the pandemic in March, one of the prohibited activities was driving schools offering this course.

However, the state has now authorized this course to be taught online. More information about how to take this course and how you can find a provider can be found online by clicking here.
