The main speed traps in Eastchester are on Wilmont Road by Lord and Taylors and California Road. The roads are straight and 2 landed, and some argue that the speed limits on those roads are artificially low. Whatever the case, most of the speeding tickets written in Eastchester, NY are written on those 2 roads. In addition, the Westchester County Police patrol the Hutchinson and Bronx River Parkways and write a fair amount of speeding tickets to the Eastchester Town Justice Court as well. The Eastchester Town Court
It is very difficult for a person to go it alone in the Eastchester Town Court. This is because the court conferences the cases on Tuesday, however a judge does not sit on Tuesdays. The Eastchester Town Prosecutor will only give minimal relief as an offer in reduction, which often will not prevent an insurance increase. However, the judge sits on Wednesdays. This is why I always move my client’s conferences to a Wednesday, as I can include the judge in the conference process. If we cannot work out a deal though the case often goes straight to trial. This makes representing yourself pro se (without a lawyer) difficult, as in order to get the best deal you must be fully prepared for trial.
Because the judge only sits once a week on Wednesdays there is a very heavy calendar. This means that if you represent yourself you may be there literally all day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. In addition to speeding and traffic matters, the Eastchester Town Court hears (1) felony arraignments, (2) general misdemeanor criminal, (3) landlord tenant, (4) small claims, (5) building and town code violations, and (7) parking tickets. On any given day there are over 100 traffic tickets alone. The calendar can easily have over 200 matters in total on in a given day.Court address and information
The court is located at the Eastchester Town Hall and Police Headquarters Building at 40 Mill Road, Eastchester, NY 10709. Parking is difficult and limited. Parking is free if you can find one in the front lot of the facility. Parking is also free if you can find it on Howard Avenue or Douglas Place. There are metered spots on Mill Road, and do not park next door in the strip mall because there is a good chance your car will be towed. The court is staffed by a complete court clerk staff and headed by a chief clerk, which is an appointed position. The court can be reached at (914) 771-3354 during regular business hours Monday through Friday.
